The latest version of the Virtual CAN Interface (VCI) includes drivers for 32 and 64 bit Windows 7 operating systems. New features are the JAVA-API and the support for the VCI V2 as layer on the VCI V3. This support is available by using the VCI V3.4.x or newer in combination with the VCI V2.20.x. Please see also the installation notes below.
The VCI V3 (Virtual CAN Interface) can be used for the development of customer specific applications and to run the IXXAT tools. For the development of customer specific applications a .Net, a C-API and a JAVA-API is provided. Furthermore the integration into LabView is supported.
Currently the VCI CAN driver for Windows supports the following IXXAT interfaces:
PC-I 04/PCI
iPC-I 320/PCI II
iPC-I 165/PCI
iPC-I XC16/PCI
iPC-I XC16/PMC
iPC-I XC16/PCIe
tinCAN 161
USB-to-CAN compact
USB-to-CAN II
CAN-IB100/PCIe
CAN-IB200/PCIe
CAN-IB120/PCIe Mini
CAN@net II/VCI
CANblue II
CAN-IB130/PCIe 104
CAN-IB230/PCIe 104
FR-IB100/PCIe (only in combination with VCI V2.20)
Please note:
The current version of the driver does not support the ISA interfaces
The canAnalyser version 2.5 or newer can be used in combination with the VCI V3.5.0
The VCI V3 and the VCI V2 programming interface do differ. If you are using third party tools, e.g. OEM software, which was developed based on the VCI 2.x driver, please check in advance whether the software supports the VCI 3.x driver or not.
If you require VCI V2 support, please uninstall the old VCI V2 and VCI V3 and reboot the PC before installing the latest VCI V3. After rebooting the PC one more time, install the VCI V2.20 or later. The VCI V2 will then also provide support for the PCI and USB interfaces supported by VCI V3.
